This week, one of our teams attended a property after the homeowner got in touch with concerns about ongoing damp, mould and a home that never seemed to feel warm, even with the heating on.

During this extraction project, we uncovered a serious issue inside the cavity wall — rubble and debris had been left within the cavity alongside failed insulation.

Many people assume failed cavity wall insulation and damp-related issues only affect older homes, but that is not always the case. This property, valued at around £600,000 and only 10 years old, had been affected by poorly and incorrectly installed cavity wall insulation from the outset.

Mixed cavity wall insulation materials had caused a serious system failure at this property, with original blown fibre found alongside EPS carbon bead within the same cavity.
